J1939 Source Code

Embedded Software for SAE J1939

The J1939 Source Code is a high-performance software package for the creation of SAE J1939-based devices and systems.

Features and Advantages:

The J1939 Source Code is written in ANSI-C and is available for platforms with at least 8 bit microcontrollers. The code is constructed in compact and modular fashion and can thus be adjusted easily to hardware-specific circumstances. Through abstraction of the CAN messages, the data is made available to the application as SAE J1939-typical parameter groups. The simple interfaces of the J1939 Source Code enable the user to concentrate on creating applications. The normally time-consuming learning of SAE J1939 is thus superfluous.

The J1939 Source Code is also continually adapted to the current developments of the SAE J1939 standard. Effort for integration into J1939 systems is thus reduced to a minimum.

Functions:

The J1939 Source Code makes available the following protocol-specific functions:

  • Automatic sending and receiving of application-specific parameter groups
  • Timeout monitoring for cyclical parameter groups
  • Independent handling of transport protocols such as BAM and CMDT as sender and receiver
  • Support of the request parameter group
  • Support of the commanded address parameter group if necessary

In addition, the J1939 Source Code contains the entire programming and control of the CAN controller used.

Special Functions:

With the aid of an ISO11783 expansion module, the source code can also be used for the ISOBUS. This expands the basic functionality with:

  • Dynamic network management
  • Extended transport protocol
