CANoe is a powerful tool that can be used for more than just bus analysis and testing. It can be used as a modeling tool to help develop your bus and help you predict how each module will react with other modules on the bus. To do this, CANoe’s basic block in simulation is the ECU. Each ECU has its functions modeled using CAPL code to recreate the proper responses based on preferred bus criteria. As physical modules are produced, each of these simulated nodes can be taken off-line and replaced with its real-world counterpart. To replace a node, you will first need to de-activate it to prevent errors on the bus, deactivating a node simply entails right-clicking on the desired node and selecting the Block Active option. Deactivating a node will cause the node to fade out and move from the red line to the black line.
To reactivate a node, right-click on a deactivated node and select Activate Node.
