1-22. Statistics Window

The Statistics Window gives users an “at-a-glance” view of the message rates on the bus for each individual message.

How can I tell the difference between transmitted and received messages?

Transmit and receive messages are displayed as differently colored lines in the Statistics Window.  By default these colors are blue for transmit and red for receive.

Can I change the colors of the display?

By right-clicking in the Statistics Window and selecting “View Configuration”, the colors for each event can be changed, as well as the background and text colors.

Additionally, the range of IDs monitored can be changed in the window.

How often does this window update?

The average update time is set to 2 seconds by default.  To change this value, right-click in the Statistics window and select “Configuration”.  Here the time can be set with 3 decimal places of accuracy.

Is there a way to output a statistical analysis for each message?

Yes.  Right-click in the Statistics Window and select “Configuration”, activate the Statistics report and histogram evaluations.

The output for this will appear in the Write Window after the measurement has ended.  For each message the following information will be available:

  • Symbolic name, or message ID
  • Direction
  • Number of messages seen
  • Average time per message in ms
  • Standard Deviation per message in ms
  • Minimum time
  • Maximum time
  • CAN channel

What is the histogram output?

The histogram output is a plug-in for CANoe that will output the Statistics window to a histogram in Microsoft Excel.  To do this, the activate option in the configuration must be checked.

Right-click on the Statistics block in the Measurement Setup window and select “Histogram output”.

Select the data to be output into the histogram, and make sure the script selected is the ToExcel.js script.  If there is a problem or the script is missing, CANoe will popup an error window.  The script is located in the Scripts folder in [..]\CANoe\Exec32.  When finished, click the “Execute script” button.
