While CANoe has many similarities to CANalyzer, the setup of the simulation bus is one area where the differences are very apparent. CANoe has three main types of blocks that can be inserted in the simulation setup window:
- ECU
ECUs are the primary block type for CANoe representing an attached CAN module and is emulated using CAPL programming - Test
Test modules can be placed in a simulation to help facilitate different test instances without the need for extra hardware - Diagnostics
Diagnostics blocks can also be placed in the simulation setup to provide additional analytical data during a measurement
Apart from these primary block types, users can also setup message generators to automatically send CAN messages to the simulated bus and replay blocks that will retransmit recorded data from a log file onto the bus.
