1-15. Using Batch Files to Change Hardware Type

When Vector tools are licensed, they are instructed to look for a specific Hardware Type.  In most cases they look for a Vector Interface card or Driver.  To instruct the tool to look for another hardware type (like a Softing card, for example) you will need to run a batch file.

Batch files for all compatible hardware are saved on your computer when you install CANalyzer.  If you open an Explorer window by Double-clicking on My computer and navigating to the directory where you installed CANalyzer (normally C:\Program Files\CANalyzer), you will find a folder labeled Exec32.  Double-click this folder to open it.  You will then find a folder labeled Batch.  Double-click this folder to open it.  Within the Batch folder you will find batch files for hardware compatible with CANalyzer and a ReadMe text document that lists a short description of what hardware requires which batch file.  To change the CAN Hardware you will be using simply double-click the corresponding batch file and restart CANalyzer.

NOTE:  Be certain you have the most recent drivers that are available for your hardware.  Additionally, there are 2 batch files available for the Softing CANcard2 (CANCARD2.BAT and CANCARD2_405).  Use the CANcard2.bat file if your CANcard2 shows up as a device under Vector Hardware in Control Panel.
