Flash Bootloader HIS Device Driver

The HIS Device Driver contains the common interface defined by the HIS Automotive Group. The driver implements the low-level routines for erasing and programming non-volatile memory devices using the standardized HIS Memory Device Interface.

The driver concept has been developed by Vector in cooperation with the Daimler AG and became HIS standard. It standardizes the interface functions to different devices allowing to configure a multiple memory interface.

The HIS Device Driver can be split into an I/O part and driver functions. The driver is also known as Flash Access Code or Flash Driver and will be downloaded into RAM memory. The OEM-dependent download can be either accomplished by using the bus interface (CAN, LIN, FlexRay) or just by copying the driver from ROM (Flash Memory) to RAM memory. When stored in ROM the driver code must be encrypted to prevent it from accidentially execution.

The Vector HIS Memory Device Drivers are optimized for smallest memory demands as well as fast and reliable programming of internal and external memory devices.

Vector covers a broad range of different Flash and EEPROM devices.
