Process control and project management

Activation of projects
When a process is applied to achieve a concrete objective (e.g.develop control module for customer X according to developmentprocess Y), this constitutes a project. All activities of the processare incorporated into the project plan as concrete work packets. The project plan can be tailored to the specific objective by omittingcertain activities and refining others.

Project planning
A scheduling and resource planning can be saved for all workpackets. Plans are versioned. This makes the evolution of the planstraceable and enables comparison of different plan revision levels.Variants of existing plans can also be developed to play out variousscenarios.

Resource planning
eASEE.pm manages personnel and material resources in resource pools. Planning for needs is organized according to user-definable resource types (software developers, hardware developers, project leaders). In an initial planning phase, requirements planning is conducted on the project level. Finally, the project leader refines the plan down to the work packet level. On this level, available resources can be allocated to planned needs. Resources may be reserved for an ongoing project directly on the Gantt chart.

Multi-project management
The central project database is the foundation for multi-projectmanagement. It can be used to simultaneously represent all of theorganization’s project plans. This is the only way to balance resourcesacross projects and thereby plan realistically. The roleconcept prevents unauthorized resource allocations from beingmade. Simultaneously, the user gets an overview of the utilization of resources allocated to the project. This makes it easier to detect potential bottlenecks.

Scenarios
To facilitate systematic planning for capacity utilization and resource allocation, project plans are combined into so-called scenarios. Project plans are arranged by priority within a scenario. The saved priority might be considered in capacity planning, for example. Scenarios become an important tool in strategic project planning. Scenarios are planning alternatives, and they represent conceivable future project configurations. They help to detect potential problems early, such as scheduling conflicts or resource bottlenecks..

Workflows
Workflows may be embedded in projects. They allow organizationaltransactions to be described and processed unerringly. Examplesinclude project status reports and reviews for quality gates.

Reporting
eASEE offers reports on both the multi-project and single projectlevels. These include standard reports, such as milestone trendanalysis, multi-project report or resource utilization report. Thisgives the user a number of powerful tools for drawing valuableconclusions about project flow or project status. This means thatproject leaders can assess the quality of project planning quicker. It is easy to expand existing reports and adapt them to specificneeds.

Integration and interfaces
All data can be exported from eASEE.pm in a XML-based format, and there are interfaces to Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Project.Interfaces to SAP are in preparation.
