Modeling and computer-supported execution

Process modeling
Processes are modeled in eASEE.pm based on activities and qualitygates. Activities may be organized hierarchically and refined tomake even complex processes easy to understand. Quality gatesserve to synchronize activities.

Process representation: Processes serve as templates that are used as a basis for creating projects:

Project planning templates
Process descriptions serve as templates for project planning. Thisensures that planning of even complex projects is based on validprocesses.

Process adaptations (Tailoring)
Within the process description boundaries Project plans may beadapted to specific tasks. This is done by adding or removing activitiesin the project plan. Stored in the process description isinformation on points at which a project refinement or simplificationis permitted.

Documents and engineering data
During the process, more and more documents and engineering data are created that are needed in later process steps. All documents are saved in a global data model that is developed in an initial customizing step. Documents can be assigned to a project and be managed there in an organization-specific storage structure. For example, functional specifications and requirements specifications might be assigned to a specific customer project. The process description defines which documents must exist as prerequisites for starting an activity, and which documents are generated or modified as part of the activity.

Roles and groups
Global groups and roles reflect static organizational structures, but they are inflexible when dynamic information needs to bemodeled. Parameterized roles and groups are utilized for thispurpose. An example of such dynamic information is the role "Projectleader": This role is not typically defined organization-wide,rather it is assigned to a specific project. Accordingly, the "Softwaredevelopers" group is defined first as a global, organizationwidegroup, but is also defined as a parameterized, project-specificgroup. Project-specific roles can be defined in the framework ofcustomizing and can be used in the project plan as well as in theproject flow.
