The first step is to formally define the structure of vehicle functionalities - implemented as software applications (SWC). The applications are described by AUTOSAR software components that are reusable in different vehicles due to their predefined interfaces. The result is a System Description, which specifies a distributed system of AUTOSAR software components. It contains both the allocation of components to ECUs and the description of network communication in the vehicle.
Vector supports you with two coordinated tools:
> DaVinci System Architect
You use this tool to define the overall system architecture of your system. It offers graphic capability in defining AUTOSAR software components and distributing software components to the ECUs
> DaVinci Network Designer
DaVinci Network Designer makes it easier to define data communication in the various networks in the vehicle. The bus systems CAN, LIN and FlexRay are all at your disposal.
